Chennedy Carter Survives a Fierce 1v1 Battle in Houston

After an unexpected departure from the Las Vegas Aces, Chennedy "Hollywood" Carter prevailed in a heated 1v1 matchup at Solitary Live in Houston.

Carter went head-to-head with Jazmyn "Jazz" McIntosh, a 5-foot-9 guard and Valdosta State alum known for her defensive résumé — including being named the Defensive Player of the Year for the Women's American Basketball Association (WABA).

In Solitary's best-of-three matchup, Carter jumped out to an early lead, taking Game 1, 12-4.

Game 2 became the most talked-about moment of the night.

With McIntosh leading 9-6 and just one bucket away from taking the round, Carter left the court after appearing visibly fatigued. She had already used her timeout and was eventually ruled to have forfeited the round after the extended break.

With the matchup tied 1-1, Carter returned for the decisive Game 3 rejuvenated. She came out attacking the basket and knocking down mid-range shots. McIntosh was held scoreless in the final game as Carter won 11-0, sealing the victory with a game-winning free throw.

After the game, Carter explained that she was uncomfortable playing outdoors on concrete and said she had hit her head during the matchup, leading to her decision to leave the court.

“I just want to protect myself out here because I have somewhere to play after this,” Carter said to the Solitary broadcast team.

Despite the controversy surrounding Game 2, Carter walked away with another 1-on-1 victory and a 2-0 record in Solitary’s women’s competition.

And afterward, even Carter gave McIntosh her flowers, calling her an “exceptional” and “special” player with a strong head fake, jumper, and her ability to get downhill.

“I love playing against her,” Carter said.

Another bright spot of the night, WNBA legend Teresa "T-Spoon" Weatherspoon was in attendance to support Carter. The player-coach duo has remained connected since their time together with the Chicago Sky, where Weatherspoon coached Carter during the 2024 season.

Their relationship has continued beyond the court, with Weatherspoon publicly advocating for Carter and believing in what she can bring to the game.
